WELCOME TO THABA NKWE BUSHVELD INN

Thaba Nkwe, which means "mountain of the Leopard", is a private game farm with a variety of wild life and leopards. The game farm comprises of 300 hectareS with a few koppies (hillocks) with splendid plant life.

Thabazimbi is a small town situated in the Limpopo Province. Our town’s daytime temperatures in summer regularly soars to 40 degrees Celsius.

“Thabazimbi is as hot as hell, just prettier!” This sentiment are shared by most new visitors to our fair town.

The bushveld boasts with some of the best hunting areas in South Africa. Wildlife is abundant and together with the right hunting outfit, you can be assured of a hunting experience second to none. Thabazimbi is home to numerous hunting operators.

ACTIVITIES & SERVICES AVAILABLE

Swimming Pool, trampoline, horse riding (private and on arrangement), bush drives and walks and laundry service for long staying guests.. There are many attractions to be visited including the Marakele National Game Reserve, Adventures with Elephants and the White Lion Breeding Park.

During your stay in Thabazimbi you will be subjected to amazing views and hospitality that are unique to our region.

ACCOMMODATION

The Lodge provides a choice between self catering chalets, wooden cabins and camping. The accommodation units are thatched roofed, connected with demarcated stone paths and are situated under magnificent shade trees, where squirrels and often wild antelope may be seen. All units are within close distance to the restaurant and bar, as with car parking. PLEASE NOTE: We cater for contractors and long term rentals at special rates.

Self Catering chalets are welcoming with rustic wooden pole furniture, bed linen, en-suite bathroom (shower and toilet) and basic cooking facilities/utensils. All units have private verandahs with braai (barbeque) facilities and have a fridge and ceiling fans. Double beds and bunks/single bed are available for families or groups. Please note that it is a ruling of Thaba Nkwe that no smoking is permitted in these units and please remember to bring towels.

Wooden cabins are comfortable and offer accommodation for maximum of 2 persons each. Two units offer a double bed and others are twin bedded. Each wooden cabin has a private verandah, braai (barbeque) facilities, fridge and ceiling fan. Bed linen is also provided. A modern ablution block is available for the wooden cabins, which are not en-suite. Please note that is a ruling of Thaba Nkwe that no smoking is permitted in these units and please remember to bring towels.

Camping and Caravan Site situation on the parameter of the reserve, offers shaded, level sand pitches and there are power points provided at an extra cost. The campsite has a separate ablution block and is in close proximity to the restaurant and bar. We operate on a "first come first pitch basis" unless pre arranged by management.

FUNCTIONS & WEDDINGS

BOMA AND OUTDOOR CATERING

Our Stone Boma, situated in the reserve, is recommended for private functions and team building groups up to 15 persons.

We offer a bush drive and braai (barbeque) as part of the package.
Outside catering may also be arranged for larger groups around our swimming pool area, where we have a fire pit and braai (barbeque) facilities.

THE THABA NKWE RESTAURANT

Our restaurant and thatch bar can accommodate weddings & functions for up to 80 people. Seating can be arranged for services as well as a reception not to be forgotten. A romantic, yet unpretentious experience to be had.

All catering is handled by our kitchen, from an outside spit or “potjie” to a buffet spread.

Accommodation can be conveniently arranged for guests at an addition cost (maximum 30 persons depending on sleeping arrangements). Please kindly email for further information or enquiries.

RESTAURANT

The Thaba Nkwe Bush Restaurant, with a leopard and wild life theme, is renowned for its steaks and unique "Fillet a la Ellie". The Head Chef, Ellie, has been with the Thaba Nkwe team for many years and is recognized as being one of the best grill chefs in the area. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner but is closed on Sundays.

The Thatch roof bar, which is located in the restaurant, is often festive and is fully licensed with wine, malt and spirits. DSTV is available for special gaming events or guests may choose to relax peacefully on the raised wooden deck overlooking the gardens and swimming pool. A home from home place with personalized service and atmosphere.

BUSH BOMA

Our unique Stone Boma (Lapa) is situated in the reserve and caters for groups up to 15 persons. We offer outside catering in the form of a bush braai (barbeque), together with an evening bush drive, which is highly recommended to appreciate the beauty and peacefulness of the bush.
