Kwalata Wilderness comprises 13 000 hectares (32 120 acres) of idyllic terrain set in the heart of the Waterberg mountains in South Africa's Limpopo Province.

Boasting 18 species of antelope and four of the big five, Kwalata is a dream safari holiday destination.

The bushveld forming Kwalata and its surrounds forms part of the UNESCO Waterberg Biosphere Nature Reserve, due to its extensive indigenous forests. This means that Kwalata is not only the premier wildlife area but in fact a sanctuary for rare and endangered animals; it is also one of the world's richest ecosystems.Kwalata has an abundance of game, allowing you to enjoy the best of absolutely everything.

Kwalata was established in 1988 by Heinz Heuser and it has been passed down to his son, Reinhard Heuser. ACCOMMODATION

 

There are two fantastically situated camps at Kwalata Wilderness. Valamanzi meaning 'Close to the water' and Zingela meaning 'Hunter' each have and outstanding atmospheres. Both are designed with one objective - your comfort and pleasure.

ZINGELA

Zingela is as luxurious as it is natural. Shaded under a canopy of huge fig trees this camp has been constructed entirely from local stone and indigenous wood - pure rustic luxury. Some of Zingela's great features include a gorgeous pool area, lush lawn leading from a lapa, bar and dining area. This camp is wonderful for groups of people.

Valamanzi accommodation consists of:
3 dam view chalets include: one double bedroom, one bedroom with a bunk bed and a loft bedroom. Each unit has a kitchenette, lounge and balcony over the dam. Each sleeps 5 people.

The main house has two huge queen bedrooms, lounge, kitchen, and a large balcony over the dam. A two single bed unit is located adjacent to the main house.A large playground area is provided to entertain the children .Perfect for family groups, children and private individuals.

This gorgeous wooden camp offers something different as the cosy lodges are built on stilts. Connected by elevated walkways between sundecks that provide birds-eye views over the beautiful dam, it is not just the fishermen that will think they have died and gone to heaven!

Hunting is of course a priority and we pride ourselves on exceptional service and professionalism encompassing all aspects from sighting in your rifle, animal retrieval, open top 4x4 vehicles, tracking to the skinning of the trophies.

Our friendly staff are on hand to ensure that all aspects of the hunt and your stay on Kwalata are as pleasurable as possible.Plains game hunts are usually 7 days however shorter or longer stay periods as well as other hunting options are welcome.

BOW HUNTING:
Bow hunters will be thrilled with the excellent blinds and facilities provided for them. There are currently elevated blinds, well positioned near water holes and feeding spots which allow bow hunters into close proximity to sought after game species, to ensure fantastic trophies and good shots at comfortable distances. The best time for bow hunters is between June and October in the dry months.

 

DANGEROUS GAME:
Kwalata Wilderness offers our clients the opportunity of a lifetime. Whether hunting the big 4 on Kwalata or travelling to one of our excellent pre-approved hunting destinations we will make your safari and unforgettable hunting experience.

Kwalata is malaria free and provides an excellent destination for hunting Africa’s dangerous game.

 

The following days are the minimum requirement for the following:

7 day Buffalo hunt
7 day Elephant hunt
14 day Buffalo & Leopard hunt
17-21 days for 4 of the big 5

 

Kwalata recognised the need to provide other areas for our repeat clients as many have hunted with us on numerous occasions and wished to continue to hunt with us but wanted new destinations. In response to this we have carefully selected other hunting areas to provide further safari experiences.

 

BILTONG HUNTING:
"Biltong hunting" is open only during the period from 1st of June to 1st week of September. Only female Impala, Wildebeest and Kudu are available to hunt during this period for their meat where as all other male species are available for trophy hunting.

The deck and thatched ceremony area overlooking the waterlilly covered dam provides a stunning backdrop to saying your vows. The grassed platform can easily house a 14x18m marquee with a food and beverage tent of 5x10m graciously accessed by stone steps.

 

The gardens and dam are dramatically lit with spotlights, for guests to pause and watch the Kudu come down to drink and highlight the indigenous trees in the garden.
